Our team
Founded in 2008, the Human-Machine-Environment System Design Lab leverages the disciplinary strengths of Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) in the field of rail transit and the resources of the State Key Laboratory of Rail Transit Vehicle System to establish a professional research team dedicated to rail transit equipment design. Guided by the philosophy of "taking industry as the vessel, academia as the sail, the era as the sea, and the original aspiration as the anchor," the Lab is committed to creating safer, more efficient, and higher-quality human-machine-environment system experiences through human factors research and human-centered design. The Lab has established a global business presence, serving more than 17 countries including Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Ireland, Egypt, Israel, and Singapore. Its representative overseas projects include the Singapore Metro R151 train, Bogotá Metro Line 1, Bogotá Tram Line 1, Belo Horizonte Metro Lines 1 and 2 in Brazil, and Tehran Metro Line 2 in Iran. Domestically, its business covers over 40 cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Urumqi, Lhasa, and Sanya. Representative projects include the Beijing–Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway Fuxing Intelligent EMU, the CR450 BF EMU, the high-temperature superconducting maglev train, the Dujiangyan–Mount Siguniang mountain railway train, the new-generation mountain sightseeing train, and the new-generation metro train. The Lab has participated in more than 200 projects, over 100 of which have been mass-produced, demonstrating its full-service capability from conceptual design to industrial delivery. With its continuous innovation and outstanding achievements, it has been honored with 8 Red Dot Design Awards, 11 iF Design Awards, and 20 China Red Star Design Awards, reflecting world-class industrial design capabilities and its position as a benchmark in the domestic industry.

Our values
We adhere to human-centered design, integrating research, strategy, and innovation to create safer and more efficient human-machine-environment systems for rail transit and beyond. We firmly believe that truly exceptional design lies not only in outward form, but also in rigorous functionality, forward-looking concepts, and profound technical expertise—thereby driving industry progress and genuinely enhancing people's user experience.
