CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd.
The Belo Horizonte Metro new train project was contracted on May 28, 2024, in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The new 24 four-car train sets, manufactured by CRRC Changchun, feature automatic train operation (ATO) and a speed of 80 km/h. These trains are designed to serve both the existing Line 1 (replacing aging rolling stock) and the under-construction Line 2. Line 2, a 10.5 km extension with 7 stations, broke ground on September 16, 2024, and is expected to open around 2028. This project aims to alleviate urban traffic pressure and represents a key cooperation between China and Brazil.
