With the theme of "Design Innovation Driving the Future of Rail Transit", the 2025 CRRC Changchun International Design Challenge solicited innovative designs for future intercity trains globally. The competition attracted numerous participants from across the country, with a total of 338 entries received. In the final, the Institute of Man-Machine System & Environment, Southwest Jiaotong University stood out and won one gold and one silver award.
On February 28, 2024, the 2024 iF Design Award successfully concluded and announced its winners. The New Generation Mountain Sightseeing Train, designed by the team from the Institute of Man-Machine Environment System Design, Southwest Jiaotong University, stood out from nearly 11,000 entries from 72 countries and regions around the world, and was awarded the Excellence Award.
On November 9, 2023, the Chengdu Night Gala and the 2023 Golden Panda Tianfu Creative Design Awards Ceremony were grandly held at the Chengdu Century City International Convention and Exhibition Center. The Shudao Travel Train, designed by the Human-Machine-Environment System Design Institute of Southwest Jiaotong University, was honored with the 2023 Golden Panda Tianfu Creative Design Excellence Award.
On April 13, 2023, the winners of the 2023 iF Design Award were officially unveiled! The Sichuan Mountain Rack Sightseeing Train and Tianjin Smart Train, spearheaded by the team from the Institute of Man-Machine Environment System Design, Southwest Jiaotong University, stood out from nearly 11,000 entries submitted by participants from 56 countries worldwide, and both claimed the 2023 iF Design Award.
On February 23, 2023, China Railway Society officially announced the list of winning projects for the Science and Technology Award of China Railway Society on its official website. The interdisciplinary project Design Theory, Key Technologies and Applications of Man-Machine Environment System for High-Speed Trains, led by Professor Zhi Jingyi from the Institute of Man-Machine Environment System Design, Southwest Jiaotong University, won the First Prize of this award for its innovative breakthroughs in the field of rail transit.
On October 19, 2020, the 5th China Design Intelligence Award (DIA Award) was officially announced at the China Academy of Art. The CR300BF "Fuxing" high-speed train with a speed of 250 km/h, designed by the Institute of Man-Machine Environment System Design, Southwest Jiaotong University, won this award.
On July 19, 2019, the re-evaluation of the 4th China Design Intelligence Award (DIA Award) was successfully concluded, with a total of 217 winning works selected. The Fuxing Intelligent EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) for the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway, designed by the Institute of Man-Machine Environment System Design, Southwest Jiaotong University, won this award.
On December 12, 2016, the 2016 China Design Red Star Award Ceremony was held in Beijing. The team from the Institute of Man-Machine Environment System Design, Southwest Jiaotong University won the 2016 China Design Red Star Award with three works: pure electric bus, Kaifeng Tram Mobile Flower Gallery and Kaifeng Tram Ancient and Modern Rhythm. This is the fourth time the team has won this authoritative domestic design award, following 2012, 2013 and 2015.
