On June 14, 2023, Shanghai Shentie unveiled for the first time a model of a Class C regional railway train designed for a speed of 160 km/h. The train is developed based on a high-speed EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) platform and deeply integrates the operational demands of regional railway transit systems. It emphasizes lightweight design and streamlined styling, balancing both aerodynamic efficiency and modern visual appeal, while the seating and interior layout cater to the needs of short-distance, high-frequency travel. This project will further strengthen the radiating capacity of Shanghai’s comprehensive transportation hub across the Yangtze River Delta region.
On June 1, 2023, Alstom announced that the first batch of high-capacity metro trains manufactured by Changchun CRRC Alstom Rail Vehicles Co., Ltd. (CARC) for Singapore is set to enter service on the city’s MRT East-West Line and North-South Line. Featuring German design, the trains fully incorporate commuter-friendly concepts: carriages are equipped with LCD screens for real-time information updates, large windows to optimize views of the urban landscape, and spacious dedicated areas for wheelchairs and strollers, significantly enhancing travel inclusivity and comfort. The deployment of these trains further solidifies Alstom’s comprehensive presence in Singapore’s rail transit system.
On March 31, 2023 , China's first full-element test system for high-temperature superconducting (HTS) maglev achieved its inaugural levitation and run.The system, independently developed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., successfully carried out its first operation, comprehensively validating key technologies such as the superconducting magnet, linear synchronous traction, inductive power supply, and cryogenic. This milestone represents a major technological breakthrough for China in the field of high-temperature superconducting maglev, laying a solid foundation for the future engineering application of superconducting maglev transportation systems.
On November 24, 2022, China's first fully independent intellectual property-protected rack railway train successfully rolled off the production line in Ziyang, Sichuan. The train adopts a dual-mode "wheel-rail + rack rail" drive system, offers diverse seating areas and large sightseeing windows, and is equipped with intelligent systems such as BeiDou/5G IoT and autonomous driving. This train fills a gap in China's rack railway sector, marking a significant breakthrough in the country's mountain rail transit equipment. It will provide innovative solutions for tourism and mountain transportation, driving the development of related industries and regional tourism.
On March 25, 2022, two brand-new CRH3A-A bullet train units completed their preparations at the Guiyang North EMU Depot and officially made their debut in Guiyang. The exterior design deeply integrates elements of Guizhou's culture: the headlight shape draws inspiration from Miao ethnic headwear, the body stripes are inspired by the "Gui Shui" (Guizhou's waters), and the luggage rack lighting incorporates the silhouette of Jiaxiu Tower. This marks the first deployment of the CRH3A-A bullet train in Guiyang, signifying a comprehensive upgrade of the transportation equipment for the Guiyang Loop Line.
On January 6, 2022, the new Olympic-themed Fuxing smart bullet train "Rui Xue Ying Chun" (Auspicious Snow Welcomes Spring), designed with the participation of the industrial design team from Southwest Jiaotong University, officially entered service. The train features a bionic head design optimized through aerodynamics to achieve lower resistance and energy consumption. The exterior paintwork incorporates elements such as snowflakes and gradient icy blue tones, echoing the Winter Olympics theme. The deployment of this train marks a significant breakthrough in China's high-speed rail sector in integrating industrial design with technical performance.
On April 22, 2021, Chengdu's new 160 km/h fully autonomous intelligent urban train made its debut. The train's exterior is inspired by the "Golden Mask" of the Sanxingdui culture and incorporates Shu cultural elements such as the Sun Bird. It utilizes cutting-edge technologies including fully autonomous driving, intelligent detection systems, and 5G communication, and features an innovative open, fully connected driver's cab with a retractable control console. This train marks the birth of China's first urban railway system that integrates regional culture with fully autonomous driving technology.
On January 13, 2021, China's independently developed high-temperature superconducting high-speed maglev engineering prototype was launched in Chengdu. The prototype successfully completed the verification of basic functions such as levitation, guidance, traction, and braking, as well as system integration testing on a 165-meter test line built by Southwest Jiaotong University. It provides an innovative solution for future high-speed and ultra-high-speed transportation systems and holds significant importance for advancing technology transfer and promoting the development of rail transit disciplines.
On October 2019, Chinese enterprises have won the bid for the Bogotá Metro Line 1, and the GoA4 fully autonomous train manufactured by CRRC Changchun for this project has commenced dynamic testing. The train draws design inspiration from Colombia’s national bird, the "Andean Condor," integrating cutting-edge technology with local culture. It features a high-strength stainless steel body, offers full-scenario autonomous driving capabilities, and its interior configuration emphasizes comfort and intelligent interaction. This train not only serves as the core equipment for Bogotá’s first metro line but also signifies the successful entry of China’s high-end rail transit systems into the Latin American market.
