On November 16- 18, 2016,the 2016 International Symposium on Industrial Design of Rail Vehicles was held in Qingdao.Design experts and scholars from 27 countries and regions, including China and the UK, gathered in Qingdao for the "Lunjian" railway vehicle industrial design innovation. More than 400 experts and scholars from well-known design companies at home and abroad attended the conference, including Tsinghua University, Southwest Jiaotong University, the Royal Academy of Arts in the UK, and design organizations such as the China Innovation Design Industry Strategic Alliance.

On September 6, 2016, Wang Dongming, Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee, Wu Jingping, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee, Tang Liangzhi, Secretary of the Chengdu Municipal Party Committee, Luo Qiang, Mayor of Chengdu, Tang Limin, Director of the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and Chen Xinyou, Director of the Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission, visited the Jiuli Campus of Southwest Jiaotong University to inspect the construction of the National Rail Transit Laboratory (under preparation). They affirmed the university’s reform, construction and development.

On April 27, 2016, the Institute of Human Machine Environment System Design at Southwest Jiaotong University invited Professor Bumsuk Lim from the Department of Transportation Design at ACCD - Art Center College of Design to Mingcheng Hall for academic exchange. Explored the direction of future transportation development, expressed opinions on existing public and private transportation, and expressed hope for the development of rail transit. Finally, we hope that both parties can have more collaborative projects in the future.

On January 9, 2016, the "Second China Design Exhibition and Public Art Special Exhibition" opened in Shenzhen. As the highest standard and most authoritative design exhibition in China, the China Design Exhibition aims to lead and promote the innovative development of Chinese design and public art by building a professional and authoritative national exhibition platform. The Institute of Human Machine Environment System Design and Research has "High speed Train Human Machine System Design" as its theme, showcasing a total of 5 design work models, including 500km/h high-speed trains and 350km/h high-speed trains.

On September 25, 2015, Misharin Alexander Sergeyevich, First Vice President of the Russian Railways Corporation, Sharapov, General Representative of the Russian Railways Corporation in China, and Dagayeva, Chief Expert of the International Cooperation Department of the Russian Railways Corporation, visited Southwest Jiaotong University. Related design exchanges were conducted at the Institute of Human Machine Environment System Design.

On May 26, 2015, Pradeep Kumar, a member of the Indian Railways Commission, P.V. Vaidialingam, financial advisor of the Indian Railways Commission, Himadri Moharana, training director of the Railways Commission, and Thelma John David, accompanying secretary of the embassy, visited Southwest Jiaotong University to inspect the school's rail transit laboratory. And had a design exchange with Professor Xu Bochu.
